Jackson Jaguars† - Lind Called Upon to Step Up Again
With Jaguars goaltender Douglas Head suffering his second serious injury this season, the team will call upon Russell Lind to carry the load again -- and Lind looks ready.
"It's never fun to see a guy go down," said Lind, "but when an opportunity comes, you need to take it head-on, and that's what I'm going to do."
Jaguars Assistant Coach Glenn Reed estimated that Head will be out at least the next three league games, but with Lind outperforming Head with a 1.80GAA and saving over 92% of shots, could this be a permanent change?
"It's possible." said Reed. "If Lindy keeps performing like this, it'll be hard not to play him."
Backing up Lind during this stretch will be the promising youngster Ronald Swan, heralded in Jackson Media as the future of the franchise. He may even see a game or two of action during this stretch.
But with five points separating five teams in the standings, the staff will be cautious over taking risks.
