Telford Venom today caused a shock upset in the last 16 of the National Cup, when they defeated League 1 team HC Angels & Devils by the score of 2-3.

Venom's opponents are currently 3rd in the top division, but despite being stronger in just about every department could not deal with the Venom's tenacity. Venom took the lead in the 1st period through Rhys Payne and extended their lead in the second with markers from Bailey Curle and Albus Howey either side of GB international, Jonathon Flintstone's score.

The third was a little more tense, when Flintstone cut the defecit further, Venom had around 9 minutes to hold out. But they fought a magnificent rearguard action and even the extra skater for Angels & Devils proved ineffectual.

Venom are now one of only two teams from outside the top division in the Quarter Finals and can continue to dream of potential cup success.
