Iowa Wild† - Final Week of III.10 Preview
This, the final week of league play, will be a shortened week with only two games. Playoff action begins on Friday.
1. Iowa Wild
The Wild only have one thing on their mind, holding on and winning the regular season championship. Standing in their way are two formidable opponents. On Monday, the Wild will take on the PHILLY FLYERS. In their previous meeting Iowa came away with a 7-0 win. Jody Melton was the star of that game with a goal and 3 assists. On Wednesday they face the Tuscaloosa Elephants. In their previous game Iowa skated away with an 8-2 victory. Antonin Suchomel was the star of that game scoring a hat trick. However that was the Elephants first league game, and they certainly have improved since then. With Backstreet hot on their tales, Iowa will need to win out to assure themselves the league title
2. Backstreet Boys
The Boys are still in contention for the league crown, and will need to win out and hope for some luck to do it. They have two solid opponents this week, both of whom they could also see in the playoffs. On Monday they will face the Elk River Wizards. This will be their first meeting. On Wednesday they take on New York Rangers St. Backstreet won their previous meeting 3-0. Goalie Corneliu Voda was the star of that game stopping 21 shots.
3. Flying Bartlebys
The Bartlebys have the easiest task this week as they have secured the 3rd seed and can neither move up or down. They do, however, have an impact on who the top seeds will face in the first round as they face the two teams vying for the 7th and 8th seed. On Monday they take on the Tuscaloosa Elephants. This will be their first game. On Wednesday they face the Old City Peregrines. The Bartlebys won the previous meeting 7-1 behind defenseman Bobby Ryder's goal and 2 assists.
4. Brentwood Diablos
The Diablos need only to win, or for New York to lose to secure the 4th seed. Given that New York has a date with Backstreet, and the Diablos play a noname team, that seems likely to happen. On Monday the Diablos take on the Hawks. This will be their first matchup. On Wednesday they take on Team noname 36693 .
5. New York Rangers St.
The chances of New York moving up are slim, so it is more important that they worry about holding their spot and securing a first round meeting with Brentwood, whom they beat last week. To do that they need only to win or for Elk River to lose. Standing in their way on Monday are the Wookies. This will be their first meeting. On Wednesday they face the Backstreet Boys in an already previewed matchup. While the schedule is tough it is no worse than Elk River who also has a date with Backstreet,
6. Elk River Wizards
The Wizards still have a shot at the 5th seed, and to get there they'll have to go through Backstreet on Monday, in an already previewed game, and the Hawks on Wednesday. This will also be a premiere meeting. The Wizards need to win out while hoping the Rangers lose both to move up.
7. Tuscaloosa Elephants.
Currently in a tie with Old City and holding the 7th seed by a tiebreaker, the Elephants have the tougher schedule of the two teams. In already previewed games, they take on the Fling Bartlebys on Monday and the Iowa Wild on Wednesday. As they are not likely to lose the tiebreaker they need only to match Old City in wins this week to secure the 7th spot.
8. Old City Peregrines
Needing only to out win Tuscaloosa to get the 7th seed, the peregrines certainly have the friendlier schedule as they face Team noname 36694 on Monday. However, on Wednesday they have a much tougher opponent in the Flying Bartlebys.
13. PHILLY FLYERS
Currently set in the 13th spot, the FLYERS need to win out, and get some help to possibly move up to 12th. It won't be easy though. On Monday they face the Iowa Wild in an already previewed game. On Wednesday they face the MN Wild in a first time matchup.
14. MN Wild
The Wild need only a win or a Wookies loss to secure the 14th seed. That looks likely to happen as they face Team noname 36684 on Monday. If they win their then Wednesday's matchup with PHILLY will have no impact on their seeding.
15. Wookies
The Wookies look to have the 15th spot locked up as they need a lot of luck and a little help to move up. On Monday they face New York Rangers St. in an already previewed game. On Wednesday they take on newcomers, zumma.
Good luck to everyone this week.
