The management team at Manchester Phoenix are keeping an eye on the "Magic Number" of points required to make the league title a mathematical certainty.

With a 13 point lead over second place and 21 points left to play for this season, the magic number is currently 8 assuming that the second place team win all their games, meaning two regulation wins plus an overtime win is the minimum to win the league on goal difference, or three regulation wins to win on points alone.

Should the PPM Phoenix win the league title, they will be following in the footsteps of their real-life counterparts who recently won the English Premier Ice Hockey League.
