Royal City fans have long been accustomed to the traditional market moves of owner canucks357. The long-term philosophy is nothing new, in fact many fans embrace the idea. "No harm there that's for sure. His cheap buys may not pay off right away, but three or four seasons down the line, they're top players on the team" said one fan.

Well, fans have been shocked this season. In addition to forking out a substantial sum to increase the capacity of Veterans Memorial Arena to 14,000 in time for playoffs, management set a record transfer on a young Swiss centerman, Elia Python. The $38M spent in the transfer was a record for the organization.

"Python is a promising prospect. He is a player that will be a part of our team for years to come and certainly helps our youngster depth issues at centre ice" said canucks357.

Fans seemed to embrace the purchase, it is no secret that the most expensive players on the market are these high-promise youngsters. Three weeks later, canucks357 make a splash that shocked the Redshift community and released a formal statement to the press.

"The Royal City Redshift are very pleased to announce the arrival of Will Rupp. We have targeted Will for quite some time, and with the closure of his team, Vowelrifics, we had our opportunity to land him. We knew he wouldn't be cheap, but we did not anticipate the magnitude of his fetching price. Nevertheless, Mr. Rupp will be a part of the organization for many years to come, helping our defence and the future of our organization. The $86 million spent on his arrival is no small sum, but in due time we shall reap the rewards of this purchase" said canucks357.

"Will is an elite defenceman and very young. We are lucky to have gotten him. He'll be a fan favourite for sure" said captain Braden Debeau. In his debut, Will Rupp notched two assists in a win over Detroit Redwings, launching the Redshift atop the II.4 standings.

One would suspect the Redshift are likely done with purchases on the market. The team is in some financial trouble with the value of Rupp's acquisition and in turn may be looking to sell in the near future.

"We are certainly a seller not a buyer right now. That being said, we won't clean house. I will go on record saying a few more elite players will be moved, but in all likelihood we won't be making any more major acquisitions unless the price is right and we have the funds at our disposal. Truth be told, we should be saving our money for further expansion of Veterans Memorial Area in the next season" said canucks357.

Players were unsettled by these claims, perhaps canucks357 is simply trying to ignite his team that sits atop I.1, but has a slim lead at best.
