Outlaw's Hopes Ride on New Acquisitions
Cleveland Intrepid† - Final Stretch
With 4 games remaining in the season the Intrepids look to keep their 6th spot. It won't be easy. Playing the Boston Bashers...Last years champions, followed by the Slap Shots and the Tuscolusa Elephants, who are chasing the Intrepids and are only 3 points behind. It will be a little easier if the the top line led by Kadeem "Deemers" Garvey continues its stellar play. Garvey has is having his best year yet with 25 goals and 80 total points, he leads the team in scoring. Don't count out 2nd year Intrepid Marco Begot. The "French Flash" currently has 37 goals and 68 points. These two stars almost leave RW Niclas Sjostrom, the teams 2nd leading scorer with 23 goals and 76 points, in the shadows!
Things couldnt have happened for the 1st line if the 2nd line, led by former league scoring leader and team scoring leader, Jaromir Nipcia, hadn't gelled as a potent line itself. Each player on this line has combined for 154 points, thus-far.
The Third Line Led by rookie Center Dwayne Perez had chipped in with important secondary scoring. Although it seems that more production would come out of a line that has the likes of Alexey Belyaev and Finnborg Bergeinsson between Rookie Dwayne Perez, would have been to score better The three forwards have combined for only 23 goals and 50 points combined. On the bright side their defensive play has been stalworth accruing a combined +68.
The Fourth line has been rejuvenated in recent weeks. Veteran and dependable Center Kent "Superman" Miller was benched in favor of the up and coming star, Raul McCarter, Since McCarter's starting the fourth squad, normally a defensive squad has they have combined for 10 goals and 15 assists in the last 9 games,
"McStarter's Ability to put it in the net combined with his great vision shows why he has that spot right now. I only expect him to move up in the future," said Miller.
Of course we would be remiss if we failed to mention the defense. Since acquiring Veteran D-man, Geoffrey Bronner last year he has done nothing but put up points. 14 goals and 53 points to be exact, not to mention his stellar +49 rating. All This while inspiring Assistant Captain Stanislav Guman to put up 43 points himself...including 20 goals...FROM A DEFENSEMAN! D-Men Eduard Kendrac and Darrell Hodges have teamed up for 61 points and an impressive + 70 rating
Goalie play has been impressive this year as well. Maas and Vakovskis have combined for a stellar 2.42 GAA and 5 shutouts.
Assisant Coach Sidney Lawler said today, "We hope to and will play to keep our 5th position in the standings. We want dearly to face the Hail To The Capitals in the Playoffs,"
It may just work out that way Coach.
