SAD Cleveland Intrepid† - Season 15 Ends. The Intrepid Win The Cup!!

After years of climbing the standings and coming ever so close the Cleveland Intrepid are finally champions!

Season 15 was a record setting season. After losing the first game of the season to the Hussars, fans though the team might be in for a long year. It wasn't so. The Intrepid won 36 of the next 37 games. breaking their team record for wins and points set last season.

Coach Bastrzyk said, "We took the took the competition too lightly at the start of the season but we knew what kind of team we had and our only goal was the Cup. I can't tell you how it feels to finally win it. That first game was an eye opener, but that's just what we needed to get our minds right."

Three 50 goal scores and six 100 point players paced the Intrepid.

Captain Kadeem "Deemers" Garvey again lead the team in points with 132 and assists with 82. Future captain Archibaldo "Baldy" Volti fired 58 goals. Volti also missed 3 games due to injury or his total might have been even higher.

Garvey said, "When you have 4 lines that can score like we can it's going to be hard to stop us."

Volti added, "Our top line was amazing. My line would be the first line on most teams, but not this one. I mean the top line has two 30 goal scoring D-men. Teams were just overwhelmed.

Other bright spots during the regular season included outstanding goal tending by Leon Maas. In 20 games he posted 10 shut outs with an amazing save percentage of .954.

Second line RW Finny Berginson was 4th on the team in scoring. Quitely adding 47 goals and 115 points!

Pat Bowe mad the jump from 4th line Defenseman to 2nd line and he did not disappoint. Posting 25 goals and 70 point, both career bests. Bowe said after the season, "I was given an opportunity and I seized it. This is hockey, you might only get one chance."

The dominance didn't stop in the playoffs. The Intrepid swept three opponents by a combined score of 47-7, posting 2 shutouts. Devon "Suggy Bear" Suggs lead the team with 14 points. Maas performed brilliantly posting a 6-0 record with a 1.40 GAA and an equally impressive .934 save percentage, despite a groin strain, which kept him out of a second round game. During that game Voldy Vankovskis posted a 2-0 shut out.

All in all an impressive season ended with a new champion being crowned.
