(AP) The Dunnville Mudcats unveiled their new team mascot before last night's home opener, introducing Rev, the club's official team cat. The feline was the unofficial winner of a competition held by Briar Patch custodians to see which of a population of feral cats prowling the team's arena could catch the largest rat. Team officials have allowed a small yet active band of cats to police the team's stadium after last year's disastrous outbreak of rats in the building. Removed from a sack by GM and club President Paul Roedb just before the official puck dropping, the cat squirmed free of Roedb and scratched anthem singer Marilyn Hutchinson on the arm before racing away through the center ice gate. Hutchinson was taken to hospital after singing the Canadian anthem and was released after being tested for rabies.
