Gryphon owners and management are holding a competition for it's fans, one that will shape the future of the franchise. The hockey aspect of Guelph Sports and Entertainment is looking for a new name and new image. It's look for ideas from the fans.

"The Gryphon name has lost taste with the ownership group here in Guelph. We want something new. Something that symbolizes who we are. Our soccer franchise is successful and their name represents that of the ownership group's career and interest. We are looking for more of the same for the hockey club."

Management is willing to offer fans franchise tickets or a prize pack which includes an unsaid amount of credits for anyone who can suggest a team name that the ownership group uses, or a team name that yields way to the eventual new team name.

It is hoped that the team name would parallel the soccer team in theme - incorporating canuck357's involvement in research with NASA/CSA and the Mars exploration program (particularly MER rover APXS).
