ΗΠΑ Momentum - Momentum Legends Mario "Super Mario" Peak and Ron "The Big Bad" Wolf Retire

As of 8/22/24, Momentum legends Mario "Super Mario" Peak (45) and Ron "The Big Bad Wolf" have retired from the Momentum.

Mario Peak was scouted by Momentum staff and signed on 7/25/15 in season 21. Over the course of his career, he played 1,392 games, scored 1,130 goals (0.81 goals/game), made 1,295 assists (0.93 assists/game), and scored 2,425 points (1.74 points per game). He ended his career with a +/- of 1,940, scored 267 power play goals, 48 shorthanded goals, and took 5,591 total shots while converting at a high 20.2% shooting percentage. He was chosen as one of the three stars in 415 games (in nearly 3 out of every ten games) and made the all star team 43 times. He scored 449 more goals than the next best goal scorer in team history and 747 more points. He captained the Momentum to their sole I.1 title in season 38. He led the U.S. national teams as one of its star players and one of the very best in the world for many years, including helping the U20 team to promote to the top division and rank in the top division playoffs in the following season. He continued to rank among the U.S. league leaders into his mid-40's. Long-time linemate center Woodrow Culp had this to say: "He just made everyone around him better. I went from a prospect struggling to make the team to one of the league leaders playing besides him." New captain defenseman Shane Stimson praised his leadership and positive influence in the locker room. "I hope I can be even half the leader Mario has been for this team."

Longtime starting goalie for the Momentum "The Big Bad Wolf" has also retired. Wolf was scouted and signed on 5/21/16 in season 24. He ended his career with 933 games, 56,110 minutes on ice, 1,464 goals against on 19,625 shots, an amazing 1.57 GAA, a cumulative 92.54% save percentage, and 376 shutouts. He was name one of the three stars in 170 games and made the all star team 22 times. He also contributed 77 assists from the crease. He is the only goalie in team history with a sub-2.00 GAA and save percentage over 91%. He eclipsed second place Ján Mokriš by 221 shutouts. He backstopped the season 38 champion Momentum team to their sole title. He was a mainstay for many years on the U.S. national teams. Current starting goaltender Roy Compton and prospect goaltender Maksim Salionak praised him for always being willing to stay late and help his teammates improve their game.

Coach Abram Ageev said that "Wolf and Peak will be dearly missed, but their legacy will live on. We have a team of hungry youngsters determined to prove themselves and write their own legends." When asked about what players had the potential to be the next Peak, Ageev named Ruby, Mapp, and Lara as the players to keep an eye on.
