United Kingdom Telford Venom† - Venom slide continues

Following their first league loss against Stormers, Telford Venom lost their second consecutive league game, this time at home against Gillingham HC.

A goalless first period was followed by the Venom replying quickly to Gillingham's first goal with Ethan Bates finding the net. The game was evenly poised at this point, the teams one-a-piece heading into the 3rd period.

A powerplay goal for Gillingham, when two Venom players were off the ice, was quickly followed by two other goals, all three being scored in the space of 3:30. This short passage of play was the turning point in the game and no further goals were scored.

With other results still outstanding, the Venom may well lose their top spot in the league.

Fans will be looking for a return to the form that propelled them to the top of the league in their next game.

The coach has said that he may well consider given leading netminder, Ned Gonad, a rest where possible, in the hope that he comes back sharper. A similar position to that taken in the National Cup game, last night, where Venom were easy winners 12-1 with an almost total second string team.

The owners have re-affirmed that they will continue with their policy of only playing home-grown players for the forseeable future. This can only be best for Telford and GB hockey.
