The Galacticos† - Mid-Season: League IV-14 Top 10 Player Transfer Rankings
This article is dedicated to the top 10 transfers in League IV-14. The ranked players HAVE to be transferred after Season 7 or during Season 8. The rankings are influenced by the combination of price, effectiveness, points, and success of teams to rank the true value of the players.
1. Max Akesson (850K) - The Galacticos
- The Swedish right-winger transferred to the Galacticos on a relatively moderate fee of 850K and raised speculation on whether this European talent could transfer his game into the Canadian style of hockey. As Season 8 started, Akesson became team Captain and silenced critics by being the top scorer and MVP so far for the Galacticos. Displaying top-class speed and skills to show that he is one of the league's top snipers, he has led the team into the first place so far in League IV-14 by amassing 50 goals and 111 pts in only 18 games.
2. Ludwig Jonsson (2.9M) - Falcons
- The proven Swedish star goalie made his switch to League IV-14 semi-finalists on July 9th, 2011 with a big 2.9M transfer. Jonsson was already a star in Europe, winning two "Best Goalie" awards in Seasons 2 and 6 in the Czech Republic League V. Since the transfer, he has kept the expectation as the franchise goalie by posting a SV% of 93.33% and having a GAA of 1.33. The best is yet to come for this Swedish star goalie, who is only 22 and still has his prime years to come.
3. Carlos Donaldson (500K) - The Galacticos
- The 22 year-old American center made his switch to the Galacticos on June 2, 2011. With the Galacticos looking for a number 1 center, Carlos Donaldson looked to be a good fit with the team and the organization made a risky move dealing for a one-dimensional offensive center. As Season 8 progressed, this American talent amazed League IV-14 crowds with dazzling playmaking skills and setting up top sniper Max Akesson on the 1st line. Although he has put up an excellent +/- number, his biggest flaw is his defensive side of work.
4. Oscar Corella (463K) - Bramalea Broncos HC
- The Spanish wonderkid made his dream move to Broncos HC, who had to pay 463K as part of the transfer. A risky move made by the club to test out the European teenager, but it is becoming evident that the money is well spent. He has proved that he could be the one for his team so far, netting 27 goals and 52 pts in 13 games. With the Broncos trying to be promoted after they had been relegated, Corella could be the player to play a major role in the team's rebuilding.
5. Dario Lorenzi (2.4M) - Falcons
- With the Falcons looking out for a true franchise center due to Eduard MacQueen's struggle in the number one center role, Dario Lorenzi was the player they have been looking for and swooped in for a blockbuster mover of 2.4M to snatch him from other interests. His first league game for the Falcons was probably the most anticipated debut of any player in the organization, and he didn't disappoint anybody by putting in a A-class game of 3 goals and 6 pts. As a veteran who is also proven on the European stage, it will be interesting to see how he leads his team to promotion and glory.
6. Karel Dolezalek (1.2M) - The Galacticos
- The Galacticos had to make sure that to build a contending team, they would have to build the core through solid goaltending, and this 18 year-old from Czech Republic was touted by scouts as the franchise goaltender. The Galacticos had to pay over the expected amount due to large interests from other teams, but through the middle of the season, he is displaying his strengths to backstop his team to first place. Technically sound and unflappable, he has posted a superb Sv% of 92.5% and an excellent GAA of 1.00.
7. Greca Gaberc (1.5M) - The Galacticos
Gaberc was once part of a blockbuster transfer, completing a move from HC Tg-Mures to Team Koponen with 4.2M, but his contract with Koponen had been terminated and he was sent to the market to revitalize his career. After the long wait, the news confirmed that he has signed a move to the Galacticos for a 1.5M transfer. As a strong two-way defenseman who can contribute on the offensive zone, he also values the technical aspect of his game, and his career has been brought back up as the top defenseman on the Galacticos.
8. Ludek Goj (20K) - Bramalea Broncos HC
- Bought at a cheap price by the Broncos to add depth to their defense line, Goj did not have high expectations going into Season 8. However, as the season progressed, Goj became the Broncos' top offensive defenseman and turned heads around with an astounding performance of 10 goals and 44 points for a defenseman. As a bit of a late-bloomer at age 22, he is still developing and will play a vital part in the Broncos' attempt at revolution.
9. Tomas Mozny (270K) - Falcons
- Mozny was an off-season acquisition made by the Falcons, who was looking to build a stronger team after finishing the Season 7 regular season champions. This 20 year-old Slovakian looked to be more than a depth-addition, and he soon proved that he can be the go-to guy for the Falcons. So far, he has contributed 20 goals and 41 points in 16 games, playing a huge part in the Falcons' continuing success in Season 8.
10. Tibor Dory (1.8M) - The Galacticos
- A bit of an overpriced LW, Tibor Dory has been hit by critics that the Galacticos paid too much to get his services. As a sniper playing on the left wing, he already had a big competition, the preceding #1 LW named Markus Mattle, to fight for the LW spot on the top line. With a series of great performances for the team, Dory surpassed Mattle as the team's top LW and has since posted great numbers of 15 goals and 47 points in 10 games.
