USA Hadaegis Aces† - The Ace Flier – Vol. 2 - #1 – Aces Celebrate Start of Fifth Anniversary Season

HADAEGIS – Season 11 of Powerplay Manager marks the Fifth Anniversary of the Hadaegis Aces. There is a palpable buzz around the Hadaegis Memorial Auditorium in connection with this milestone year.

“I can hardly believe that this is our Fifth Anniversary season,” remarked an emotional GM Arthur Brunswick before Wednesday’s home opener against TRIBAL HYDRA. “It is amazing that we are even still even in business. Between my month long nap and short attention span, it’s an accomplishment that the Aces haven’t gone under. I’m so proud of our boys for sticking with it through thick and thin. Also, if you tell anyone that I was crying like a baby, I will see to it that you are run out of this town on fire, and a hex be placed upon your kin.”

The home opener Wednesday night marked the homecoming of the season and started with a bang, literally. Pat “Black Cat” Bremer designed and engineered the pre-game pyrotechnics show.

“I know my first job is as a hockey player, and I love the game of hockey, but I cannot deny my love of gunpowder and fire,” said Bremer. “Being given the opportunity to make the pre-game pyrotechnics show is a great way for me to connect the two loves of my life, and celebrate an important milestone for this great team. I just hope the fans brought their best ear protection and some Depends. Hail to the Black Cat King, baby! The Fire and Bremerstone Odyessy will blow everyone away!”

Needless to say, the “Fire and Bremerstone Odyssey” was the loudest thing to ever happen at the Aud and left more than a few people running for the bathroom. The Aces unfortunately lost 8-2 on Wednesday night, but that did not put a damper on the mood across the organization.

“It’s great to just be playing hockey in Hadaegis,” said Aces captain Gábor Sárkány. “There have been some days where we thought the team and the arena would shuttered the next day. Yet here we are. It is like my mother always said, ‘Do not let a leper give you beauty tips, and beware the pencil-necked fox.’”

The Fifth Anniversary festivities are just getting underway though. On May 23, against the Nashville Knights, the Aces will honor Ed Werner, who was voted “All-Time Most Irrelevant Player” by the fans. The June 15 game against the Bickley McHammers brings Ernest Kotrla back to the Memorial Auditorium, honored as the Aces first market acquisition and disappointment. And on July 9, the Aces will honor the Season 8 III.13 Champion Aces squad in a rousing pre-game ceremony before taking on long-time rivals, the Chicago Towers.

More events will be announced as the season unfolds.
