Brampton Capitals† - 5 games in.
When Brampton acquired 17 year old centre Unai Gil from Spain they knew that they would be adding a significant boost the the line-up.
What they didn't know is that 5 games into the season they'd be in 1st place. Granted, it's a 7 way tie for first place which Brampton is winning by +24 goals for -vs- goals against.
When asked to comment head coach Bob Petit said:
"We've added some higher caliber players to our line up, we clicked as a team, and we're just playing good hockey. There's no big secret to our success thus far. We're just good. Don't blow this out of proportion either. We're one of 7 teams that have 12 points. We've just been able to score a lot of goals in league play recently, and that's helped us in terms of the tie-breaker. I look at the number 2 and 3 teams, Nordik and the very team that knocked us out of playoff contention, Actus and I know we're one bad play(let alone game) away from slipping out of first. Our boys deserve alot of credit, and Tomas Steiner has been great in net for us."
It's still early in the season and it seems like Brampton's coach is well aware of that, but for now, Brampton continues to look forward to each game that lies ahead. Next up in league play is team noname 12675 on Friday but not before hosting the Halifax Eagles from Canada's II.3 in a friendly game tomorrow.
